Some info on Solar Atmospheres
World Class Quality. Innovative Solutions. Advanced Technology.

When Solar was established as a commercial heat treating plant specializing in vacuum technology 25 years ago, it was with these hallmarks in view. The business has expanded into the largest privately owned all vacuum heat treating operation in the country, with over 40 vacuum furnaces in production.

Today Solar Atmospheres is widely recognized as an industry leader, providing broad metallurgical experience, quality, and capacity for vacuum heat treating, brazing, surface treating and material processing. Solar currently has two operations in Pennsylvania, with a third site to be located in southern California, slated to be operational in 2010.

Solar Atmospheres Corporate Headquarters are in Souderton, PA, where operations encompass three plant sites. Solarís Technology Center, home of our Research and Development team of metallurgists, scientists, and engineers, advances our processing and engineering to provide innovative solutions for the needs of our customers. Vacuum gas nitriding and low pressure vacuum carburizing are some of the services that our customers now benefit from as a result of the efforts of our R&D team. Recent cycle developments also include varied applications for processing raw materials in reclamation markets, including processes for hydriding, degassing, and reacting and converting strategic materials.

Also operating on the eastern side of the state is our high-tech vacuum brazing facility, where customized braze runs are processed to AWS, AMS and Mil-specs standards. Our heat treating operations work 24/7, providing services such as hardening, tempering, solution treating, precipitation hardening, annealing, stress relieving, sintering and more. Special services include cryogenic treatment, steam and graphite coating treatments, helium leak testing and an onsite metallurgical laboratory.

Our plant sites are AS9100 / ISO9001 Registered, NADCAP Accredited, and hold many approvals, such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Rolls Royce. Solar serves customers in more than 18 industries; we are continually updating our capabilities and processes.
