Bio: Jack is a Principal Engineer for the Technology & Innovation group of Materion Performance Alloys and Ceramics (PAC), and he is also the Technical Development Manager for Materion’s Reading, PA Plant.  He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and an ASQ “Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence.”  Jack holds a B.S. Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Lafayette College.

Jack’s Technology role involves managing New Product Development, including feasibility, mill trials and commercialization of new strip products, including Beryllium Copper and other copper-based alloys. Customer markets for these products include aerospace, automotive, defense, electronics and telecommunications. His projects have resulted in multiple patents related to processing of high strength Cu-Ni-Sn alloy strip, as well as the Materion IDEA award for innovation and discovery.

Jack’s Lean Six Sigma projects include additional new product development efforts, manufacturing yield improvements, new equipment installations, and Environmental, Health & Safety improvements.  Project results include over $6 Million in cost savings and over $60 Million in new product revenue.  His Lean Six Sigma role also includes the management of two Black Belt projects which earned the corporate STAR (Safety Team Achievement Recognition) award for contributions to workplace safety.

Jack is also responsible for the R&D and metallurgical support of the Reading Plant’s manufacturing operations, and for the selection and supervision of the Lehigh University co-op students working in the Reading Plant.

Before joining Materion, Jack worked for Concurrent Technologies Corporation in Johnstown, PA from 1993 to 1997, as part of the National Defense Center for Environmental Excellence.  Prior to that, Jack was with Bethlehem Steel, first at the Homer Research Laboratories from 1985 to 1986, before moving to the Johnstown Plant, where he supervised the Met Lab for the Bar, Rod & Wire Division. He also worked briefly in the Met Lab at Victaulic Co. in Easton, PA after college graduation.
